ASCOLTO

Churches & Cathedrals

Improve speech intelligibility in churches, cathedrals and reverberant worship spaces with AVE ASCOLTO digitally steerable column speakers.
Challenge

The Challenge in Church Acoustics

Churches and cathedrals are among the most demanding environments for sound reinforcement. Long reverberation times, reflective surfaces, high ceilings and architectural restrictions make clear and intelligible speech reinforcement difficult with conventional loudspeaker systems.

In these rooms, the goal is not simply to increase sound pressure level. The decisive factor is improving the direct-to-reverberant sound ratio while reducing unnecessary acoustic energy toward ceilings, walls and domes.

Solution

The ASCOLTO Solution

AVE ASCOLTO digitally steerable column speakers use DSP-based beam steering to direct acoustic energy precisely toward the congregation while reducing unwanted reflections.

The loudspeaker can remain vertically and discreetly aligned with the architecture, while the acoustic beam is electronically aimed toward the listening area. This makes ASCOLTO suitable for both historic and modern worship spaces.

Depending on the model and configuration, ASCOLTO systems can support multiple listening areas, such as the nave, side aisles, balconies or galleries.

Application

Designed for Worship Spaces

ASCOLTO digitally steerable column speakers are suitable for historic and modern worship spaces where speech intelligibility, controlled coverage and discreet architectural integration are essential.

Discreet Integration

Slim column loudspeakers can be integrated into churches and cathedrals without visually dominating the architecture.

Controlled Coverage

Acoustic energy can be directed toward the congregation instead of unnecessarily exciting ceilings, walls or domes.

Flexible Listening Areas

Suitable beam configurations can support the nave, side aisles, balconies, galleries and other listening areas.

Technology

Key Technologies

Beam Steering

The acoustic beam is digitally aimed toward the congregation while unwanted reflections from ceilings, walls and domes are reduced.

Multi-Beam Coverage

The nave, side aisles, balconies or galleries can be covered with suitable independent acoustic beams where required.

DANTE Connectivity

Digital audio transport and network-based configuration support modern fixed installations and multi-device projects.

ARS Anti-Reverberation

Unwanted side lobes are reduced to improve the direct-to-reverberant sound ratio in acoustically difficult rooms.

AVE Line Array User Control

Audience areas, beam direction, equalization and project data are configured and managed with dedicated AVE control software.
