New Electro-Acoustic Sound System in the Seminary Church of Brixen – ASCOLTO LH4825 with ARS Technology
The Seminary Church in Brixen (South Tyrol, Italy), part of the historic diocesan seminary and an important example of Baroque sacred architecture, has recently been equipped with a modern electro-acoustic sound reinforcement system. The aim of the project was to achieve high speech intelligibility and uniform sound coverage without compromising the architectural and acoustic character of the church interior.
Technical Solution: ASCOLTO LH4825 with ARS
The installation is based on the digital column loudspeaker ASCOLTO LH4825, a modular solution obtained by vertically stacking two ASCOLTO LH2425 units. This configuration enables extended vertical directivity control and improved acoustic performance in acoustically challenging environments such as churches.
A key feature of the system is the ARS (Anti Reverberation System), which effectively reduces lateral radiation (side lobes), minimizing unwanted reflections from side walls and ceilings and significantly improving speech intelligibility in reverberant spaces.
This significantly minimizes unwanted reflections from side walls and ceilings — a decisive advantage in highly reverberant sacred spaces such as the Seminarkirche.
Technical and acoustic benefits
- Improved speech intelligibility for sermons and readings
- Controlled vertical sound dispersion with reduced side lobes
- Uniform sound coverage across the audience area
- Discreet integration into the historic church architecture
Installation by the Italian distribution partner
The system design and installation were carried out by Elettrica Friulana s.r.l. , the official Italian distribution partner. Particular attention was paid to the liturgical requirements as well as to the preservation of the listed building fabric.
Result
With the new sound reinforcement solution, the Seminarkirche in Brixen now benefits from a contemporary electro-acoustic system that combines modern audio technology with respect for historic architecture. The ASCOLTO LH4825 makes a decisive contribution to delivering clear, natural, and well-balanced speech and music throughout the entire church.
